LIME Anguilla, formerly Cable and Wireless, has repeated the telecommunications company’s longstanding sponsorship of the Annual Inter-House Athletic Competition of the Albena Lake-Hodge Comprehensive School.
On Monday this week, LIME presented a cheque for just over EC$8,800 to the Principal of the school, Mrs Ingrid Lake. The presentation was made by the company’s General Manager, Mr. Mathieu Dion.

The cheque presentation was preceded by introductory remarks by LIME Anguilla’s Marketing Manager, Ms Jade Reymond, who said that the company had been sponsoring the Sports Day event for many years. “As part of our LIME for Life campaign, we ensure that we play a vital role in the community – and this partnership gives us the opportunity not only to be a part of the youth in the community, but also to encourage sports education,” Ms Reymond stated.

Mrs Lake was delighted that LIME had again consented to sponsor the school’s Inter-House Athletic Competition. “Had it not been for Cable and Wireless/LIME, I don’t think we would have been able to raise the funds needed to purchase the medals, trophies, feed the officials on sports day, buy uniforms for the cheer leaders and for the preparation of the park,” she acknowledged. “That money has indeed come in very useful, and we are indeed grateful that LIME has consented to share with us – and will continue to do so for many years.”

Mrs Lake said that, unfortunately, there were no other businesses involved in the Inter-House Competition. She hoped that later on other sponsors would support the competition as it was always necessary to award students for their exceptional performance in several aspects of their education.

General Manager, Mr Dion, underscored the importance of sports education. “Coming from a highly competitive sports environment, back home in Canada, I had the opportunity also to be supported by corporations there – and was able to perform at a higher level,” he commented. “I think that for the young generation that is very important because it teaches them solid values about perseverance, hard work and discipline. I think these are fundamental values that are going to help every young person out there.”
