INVITATION FOR TOURISM SCHOLARSHIPS

The Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association Educational Foundation (CHTAEF) and the Anguilla Hotel and Tourism Association (AHTA) are now inviting industry students and professionals to apply for a scholarship from the Caribbean Hotel & Tourism Association Education Foundation (CHTAEF) so they can pursue higher education or professional development in the Tourism and Hospitality field.
Scholarships are awarded from CHTAEF sponsors, comprising Virgin Holidays, Interval International, First Caribbean International Bank, Johnson and Wales University and Florida International University.
CHTAEF is accepting applications for its scholarship program on March 30th 2015 until 5 p.m.. To meet this deadline all applications must reach the Anguilla Hotel and Tourism Association, for application authorization no later than March 27 th, by 3 pm.

Scholarships are awarded for study at any approved college or university including, but not limited to, the Anguilla Community College and the University of the West Indies.

Scholarship recipients will be advised of their approval status and, if accepted and updated on the details of the amount of their award in late May 2015.
Mrs. Gilda Gumbs Samuel, Association Executive, and President of The Caribbean Society of Hotel Association Executives, has recently been invited to sit on the foundation of the CHTAEF, and said that she feels very proud to be able to be part of this very important foundation, and will assist in ensuring that Anguilla continues to benefit from dialogue and that member employees that are interested in furthering their education of the hospitality sector is well represented.

Last year, the AHTA scholarship recipient was Ms. Kim Blaze, from CuisinArt Golf Resort and Spa was the proud winner of a scholarship, which allowed her to cover her financial obligation, complete her studies and graduate from the Anguilla Community College.
Ms. Gumbs Samuel further said, that it is important for the industry managers, HR directors, and supervisors, stand behind their qualified staff and encourage them to apply for these scholarship opportunities, as it is preparing our future industry leaders.
The CHTAEF, continues to work very hard in providing scholarship opportunities for our young tourism professionals throughout the region. “Since 1987, we have awarded approximately $2 million in scholarships and grants to applicants, and we have observed many successful scholarship recipients build exemplary careers in the tourism and hospitality industry,” said Richard S. Kahn, Chairman of CHTAEF. We encourage all of our hospitality students and professionals to apply for scholarships offered by the CHTA Education Foundation.
