In Anguilla, the National Male Football Team beat a visiting male team from Tortola in what were clearly two well-fought matches at the Football Stadium over the weekend.
The first match took place on Saturday evening, February 28. After an intense battle Anguilla emerged winner with a score of 1 – nil.

When the second match was played, the following day, Sunday evening, a massive crowd came out to support Team Anguilla. It was a spectacular match for both teams, but in the end Anguilla claimed victory with a final score of 3 – 1. Team Tortola scored its goal in the second half of the match from a penalty kick.

The three goals scored by Team Anguilla came from players Girdon Connor, Kapil Battice and Rubin Richardson.

The next activity at the Football Stadium will be a FIFA-endorsed match on Sunday, March 29. That’s when the National Male Team will compete against a visiting team from Nicaragua. This promises to be a big event and is expected to attract a large and supportive crowd of fans from across the island.
