The Health Authority of Anguilla (HAA) is proud to announce the recent acquisition of a brand new Ultrasound Device for the Radiology Department. The new machine, a Mindray DC8 is a full service ultrasound scanner that allows the performance of a comprehensive list of exams. It is able to perform over virtually any body surface with its 5 probes including one with 3D capability. Using these, the operator will be able to demonstrate most soft- tissue abnormalities, as well as cardiovascular, abdominal and pelvic pathologies.
Expectant mothers will also be happy with the 3D Capability of the DC8 as it is now possible, under the appropriate conditions to know what the Baby’s face, hands and even feet, will look like before birth. By the procurement of this machine the HAA sets its Radiology Department on the highest standard of Diagnostic Ultrasound capabilities for Anguilla’s residents and visitors.
However, this investment from Health Authority was not only made with the patient in mind. The 19 Inch adjustable screen, the adjustable height keyboard and the user-friendly interface makes the Physician’s work much easier and the capability of storing images digitally in many formats even to recover them and measure as in real time examination will improve the accuracy of results.
The Radiology Department has already begun extending these services to the general public. The Department operates Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm in the Princess Alexandra Hospital and also offers 24 hour emergency services. Appointments can be made at Department or by calling 497-2551.
