He spoke to Mr. Keithstone Greaves of Talk Anguilla on Radio Anguilla.

“In fact some were proactive in determining it wasn’t wise to campaign publicly during Lent so all the leaders of the parties have agreed,” he said. “We haven’t spoken to The Independents as yet…We look forward at a time when there is less rancor and bitterness during lent in the Christian community so we are happy that the parties have agreed.”

Reverend Gumbs however pointed out that the political parties are free to have house to house meetings and can use the radio or newspaper to for their campaigns but no public meetings with loud speakers.

He also spoke on the issue of the political billboards and called for those that may be negative to be removed. He also said the Council will be writing formally to the political parties and candidates to get their manifestos out so that members of the public can have time to view them and to be properly informed.
