Outgoing Secretary/Treasurer of the Anguilla Student Guild, Mrs. Takoma Carty-Pemberton, also shared information about the role of the Student Guild and the initiatives undertaken thus far by the Anguilla Chapter. Nominations were also taken for the upcoming elections for the new Guild executive.
Students were also formally introduced to the newly appointed University of the West Indies Open Campus Manager for the British Overseas Territories, Dr. Phyllis Fleming-Banks. Dr. Fleming-Banks, who is based on Anguilla, thanked the staff at the Site for their hard work and dedication and congratulated the students on choosing the UWI Open Campus to continue their education. Noting that the UWI Open Campus offers an affordable alternative to the high cost of tertiary education overseas, she challenged “Team UWI Anguilla” to continue supporting each other to ensure their success. The engagement between students and site staff was lively and enthusiastic and ended with a social gathering and refreshments.

The orientation session forms part of the student sensitization and support process and will take place at regular intervals during the academic year.
