Friday 31 October, 2014, The Valley, Anguilla. The Directors and Staff of The Regional Law Revision Centre Inc. (the Centre) joined in celebration to observe the milestone achievement of Ms. Yolande Dash, having successfully completed 11 law revision projects which involved the processing of over 150 years of legal paperwork for the islands of Trinidad & Tobago, the Turks and Caicos Islands, Anguilla and Montserrat.

Ms. Dash embarked on this journey many years ago in Trinidad & Tobago, when she got the opportunity to commence legal publishing at the Law Revision Unit, Attorney General’s Chambers of Trinidad and Tobago. Her main task was to establish the publishing section in the Unit and to create a revised edition database of laws beginning from the 1977 revised edition and incorporating all the laws up to when she left in the 1997. Ms. Dash then moved to the Turks and Caicos Islands Attorney General’s Chambers (TCI) to undertake the 1998 law revision publication, which covered the period 1968-1998. Subsequently, she joined the Anguilla Attorney General’s Chambers to produce Anguilla’s 2000, 2002, 2004 and 2006 law revision publications, which covered the period 1961-2006. During this time in Anguilla she also successfully completed Montserrat’s 2002 revision publication, covering the period 1962 – 2002. At that point she had reached 135 years of paper work.
This then created a new opportunity and birthed the concept for the Centre to be established in Anguilla which enabled Ms. Dash to continue the task of producing Montserrat law revision, updated from 2002 to 2008, Turks and Caicos Islands, updated from 1998 to 2009 and Anguilla, updated from 2006 to 2010. This added an additional 21 years; totaling 156 years.
As a testament to coming full circle, Ms. Dash continued to provide training to the members of Trinidad and Tobago’s Law Revision Commission in 2010 and 2013.

When asked about her remarkable journey to success, Ms. Dash modestly commented “I have to attribute opportunities, hard work and God’s guidance as the keys to my achievements. The quality of your product or service speaks volumes for you and this is the most important secret to success that I am trying to share with my staff members.” Ms. Dash further stated “I am thankful to many persons and organisations that I had the opportunity to work with, including the Department for International Development (DFID), Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO), Law Revision Consultants and support staff.”
The Centre was established in Anguilla in 2007 and continues to provide Revision and Consolidation services to the Turks and Caicos Islands, Anguilla and Montserrat. The Centre now also serves the Virgin Islands, Antigua and Barbuda and Belize, and conducts Consolidation of Laws training to many Caribbean States, including Trinidad and Tobago and as far afield as the Falklands Islands.

At the celebratory ceremony which was held at the offices of the Centre, the Hon. Attorney General and Director of the Centre, Mr. Rupert Jones stated “The Centre is delighted and privileged to have the expertise of Ms. Dash and we look forward to the Centre’s involvement in many more revision projects throughout the Caribbean.”
