A release stated that on Saturday, October 25, members of the Beat and Patrol Unit “recovered a High Point 9mm pistol and seven rounds of ammunition from a motor jeep at Sandy Ground, during a routine check. The driver J.D. of West End was arrested and charged with possession of a firearm and possession of ammunition.”

The defendant appeared before the Magistrate’s Court on Monday, October 27, for a bail hearing. Bail was denied and he was remanded to Her Majesty’s Prison until November 3.

The release added: “The Commissioner of Police, Mr Rudolph Proctor, commended the officers involved for the tactful and professional manner in which they dealt with the matter”.
