Anguilla is open and ready for business in anticipation of a buoyant winter season following the passage of Hurricane Gonzalo on Monday, October 13, 2014.
According to a statement from the Anguilla Tourist Board, Anguilla sustained minimal damage from the category one hurricane, with the island’s tourism plant emerging largely unscathed and no significant reports of structural damage.
The most significant impact was experienced on the foliage, with wind damage to a number of trees around the island. The restoration process is well underway, with electricity being restored to most of the island, and a number of properties reporting robust business despite the passage of the storm.
Meanwhile, industry stakeholders are expecting to be ready and open for business by November 1, 2014, following the annual closures for renovation and repairs, which mark the unofficial beginning of the winter season for Anguilla.
