Mr. Hubert Hughes
Chief Minister
Government of Anguilla
The Valley
Anguilla

Dear Mr. Hughes

Re: The Father of the Naiion.

Greetings.
As you are aware the father of our nations Mr. James Ronald Webster is now in his late 80′ s and is not as alert as he used to be. As a nation we are all very grateful for his contribution to Anguilla as the leader of the Anguilla revolution. In recent times under your administration we honoured him by making his birthday a national holiday. As a further gesture of our appreciation of his contribution, the Civil Society Group would like to suggest the following :

1 . He be chauffeured around by the police whenever he had to go out in an official looking vehicle.

2. His health care is taken care of by the government.

3. His pension be aligned with that of the last retired Chief Minister.

As you are no doubt aware Mr. Webster continues to drive himself. This is now proving more and more challenging for him as he ages. The last thing any of us would want to have happen is for him to get into an accident where he gets hurt or where he hurts someone . To this end, the idea of having him chauffeured by the police shows our love and respect for him and it ensures his safety. I am sure that the demand to transport him would be relatively inexpensive as he seldom leaves his home.

As it related to Mr. Webster’s health care needs, it might be possible that this could be addressed with a health insurance policy where the premium can be paid by the Government of Anguilla.

We are not aware of Mr. Webster having any particular existing health challenge that could prove costly .

Finally, as the father of the nation the leader of the Anguilla revolution should be shown more appreciation for his sacrifice for this island by being given a pension that is aligned with the current pension of the most recent retired Chief Minister. Mr. Webster is now in his late 80’s and is therefore a cost that is unlikely to be carried for a very long time.

Grateful if your government would look at this request favorably.

Respectfully
