Among the many exciting happenings at OIS this year is the addition of Mr. Jordan Scheer as Principal. Coming from a stellar background of 10 years classroom regional and international teaching experience, Mr. Scheer looks forward to using his experience in international education to help guide OIS forward and to introduce many innovative and progressive programs, all while staying true to the unique spirit and community of the school and Anguilla.

Mr. Scheer began his career in North Carolina where he worked in an inner city public school for 6 years while earning his Master’s Degree and Administrative credentials. From there, he joined the international circuit and moved to the country of Trinidad and Tobago where he spent the next 4 years working for the International School of Port of Spain. When the opportunity arose to move to Anguilla and join the OIS team, he embraced it and relocated here officially in July to begin work and ensure a smooth start to the 2014-15 school year.
His mandate involves ensuring that ongoing initiatives like the International Baccalaureate/ Primary Years Program are pursued with more intensity than ever, while new additions like a progressive student-centered math program, a multi-purpose sports court, and a battery of other offerings will be implemented and finalized as the year progresses.
He joins an excellent, multi-cultural staff already in place from previous years. All the core teachers of OIS from last year have returned and they will be joined by a new Physical Education Specialist, Professional Artist, and a new expanded role for the Foreign Language Teacher. The whole staff returned over a week before school resumed in order to complete training in International Baccalaureate, Mathematics education, and to take a close look at the future of the school and how regardless of all the changes and progress, the core ideals of Omololu International School remain the same.
The school curriculum includes a healthy mix of the core courses of Math, English Language, Science and Social Studies, complemented by an innovative blend of French, Spanish, Music, Art and Physical Education, all presented in a modern and holistic approach. Technology is readily embraced to leverage the optimal teaching and learning environments to maximize student growth and development. An interesting extra-curricular program which will be open to the wider community will also be offered.
The Board, Management and staff are committed to providing the children of Anguilla with a stimulating and engaging learning experience that inspires them to be balanced, open-minded and reflective citizens. The vision is to become a leading center of learning in the Caribbean, through building collaborative relationships among students, staff, parents, and the wider Anguillian community. The highly trained staff, ever-growing student body, and dedicated parents, make Omololu a unique and vibrant school.

If you have any questions, would like to become involved, or just find out more information about the offerings at Omololu International School, please do not hesitate to contact the school at (264) 497-5430 or info@omololuschool.org.
