He was introduced to media representatives on Wednesday this week by Mr Jan Remmelg, CEO for the North Caribbean, who has been serving in an acting position in Anguilla, pending the appointment of the Country Manager. Mr Remmelg said that he was looking for the right person for the job.

“To me, it is extremely important to get the right person to be able to take LIME from where it is today to the next level,” Mr Remmelg said. “That’s why it has taken some time to find the right person. I have been meeting and interviewing a number of candidates from abroad and from Anguilla – and it was important again to find the right person that fits with the LIME team in Anguilla, but also the person that fits in with the country, and the culture, and to take LIME to the next level. And that person is Mat.

“He has a wealth of experience within this industry and has been working for the last ten years with Rogers Canada, the largest full service provider there. I am very confident that Mat, together with the rest of the team, will take LIME to the next level.”

Replying, Mathieu Dion, the new Country Manager, said in part: “I am very excited and very pleased to have this opportunity to join the LIME Anguilla team. We are doing a lot of enhancements in terms of technologies, and we are focusing on the satisfaction of our customers on a consumer, corporate and government level. I believe that, with my past experience, I can help to support our team and offer that world-class service that we are aiming for.”

Meanwhile, Mr Remmelg spoke about LIME’s recent upgrading of its 4G network and disclosed several plans for improving other services of the telecommunications company. “Three months on the day, 23rd April, we launched 4G in Anguilla,” he went on. “We actually have the newest 4G network with the widest coverage on the island, and we have the fastest 4G network. It is very encouraging that over these three months …the usage of mobile data among our customers has been growing quite rapidly. Today, fifty percent of our customers have smart phones, and that percentage is growing…as our customers utilise the 4G network and have that unforgettable experience that we talk about.”

He also said that LIME was now doing phase one of a broadband upgrade. “That upgrade is going to give us improved performance and, more importantly, reliability across the entire island for our broadband customers,” he told the media.

The North Caribbean CEO also said that LIME Anguilla was working with Erickson, an outsource partner, to improve customer service. He added that, as part of that effort, four new customer service vacancies would be advertised shortly.
