She was presented with the necessary pin on Saturday, July 12, at Government House, by Ms Joan Carty, a Member of the Council of Girl Guiding, Camp Adviser and Trainer.

The pinning ceremony was witnessed by Ms Sherine Sasso, Girl Guides Commissioner, Mrs Bernice Fahie-Richardson, Vice President, and other members of the Council of Girl Guiding. A more formal ceremony will be held at a later date to welcome the Governor to guiding in Anguilla.

Governor Scott who, had been a Brownie and a Girl Guide, said her mother would be proud of her for becoming the President of the Girl Guides of Anguilla. The ceremonial post has been vacant for some two years.

As president, her role includes presiding over meetings of the Girl Guide Association and dealing with a number of issues. She is also expected to promote girl guiding and ensure that the rules and regulations of guiding are adhered to.
Meanwhile, Brownies in Anguilla and their counterparts in the United Kingdom are celebrating 100 years of the existence of the pact. To mark the occasion, the Brownies (7-11 years), cut a cake assisted by the new President of Girl Guiding.

Over last weekend, forty Brownies and nine Guides participated in a twenty-four camp on the grounds of Government House. The activities included a fashion show, camp fire, song singing and a hike to Katouche Bay.
Several Brownies are to become Guides later in the year, while several Rainbow members, aged 4 -6, will be elevated to Brownies.IMG_0007 IMG_0027
