Three of our athletes accompanied by Alexis Ryan and Elen Davis attended the OECS Track and Field Championships 2014 held at the Silver Jubilee Athletic Stadium in St. Kitts from 5-6 July. 15 years old Janique Flemming and T’arah Niles performed admirably. Running against a field of older peers Janique placed 6th in the open 800m. T’arah placed 5th in the Junior 200m but came out fighting in the Junior 100m gaining a 3rd place and personal best in the process. Her big brother, Teron Niles, also went on the attack which not only gave him a gold medal but a new national record of 2.00m in the high jump.

The CAC Junior Championships 2014 also took place over the weekend from July 4-6 in Morelia, Mexico. Accompanied by Heather Richardson, Zharnel Hughes and Rechelle Meade did not fail to deliver. Competing in 200m Zharnel eased through the preliminaries and dominated the finals with a time of 20.33 seconds just 0.01 seconds short of his best. Rechelle deciding not to be outdone by her teammate placed first place in the long jump with a new personal best of 5.92m.
