There, local and visiting patrons, are served with tasty burgers prepared from freshly-baked buns from indigenous bakeries and, in addition to choice beef, fish and other protein, they are stuffed with such vegetables as lettuce and tomato produced by local farmers. Vegetarian Portobello mushroom burgers, hot dogs, chili dogs, sweet potato fries, homemade lemonade and iced tea are also available at unbeatable prices. According to Sniderman, “A Burger” is one of the few restaurants which grind their own Certified Grade-A Angus Beef.

Mr. Sniderman, who has 30 years’ experience as a high-quality restaurant operator inCanada, sojourns inAnguillaalong with his wife, where they own vacation homes. He is of the view that small businesses, like “A Burger”, have a strong role to play in job creation and assisting economic growth.

That is also the view ofMitchLakewho, with seven employees at the restaurant, said he was delighted to have provided jobs for them; and to be providing an affordable-priced service for Anguillians and visitors alike. He was also happy that the restaurant was a good marketing outlet for local farmers producing vegetables and for local bakeries as well.

The well-patronised dining facility opened on January 19 in its own building. It has been suitably renovated with an extensive and comfortable patio decked with an array of tables and chairs, shaded by stately trees which conveniently grew up in front of the building. The courtyard boasts another attractive dining area along with playing opportunities for children and additional space for parties.

Apart from its restaurant service, “A Burger” has been described as a community-based business providing opportunities for youth and family groups to hold parties and other such social events.

Asked about the significance of the jointly-owned restaurant venture,MitchLakereplied: ‘A Burger’ is an authentic burger restaurant and this is the first of its kind to grace the Anguillian community. Our 100 percent Angus Beef is ground fresh everyday. My wife, Keesha, and I are happy to play a positive role in helping to stimulate the economy during these challenging times. We thank all persons in the Anguillian community for their patronage, thus far, and look forward to their continued support.”
