The event was timed to coincide with the pre-Anguilla Day programme of activities, and featured displays of arts and crafts including clothing some of which showcased the national colours of Anguilla; paintings, ornaments and various other items of craft. Agricultural produce, culinary delicacies, other exhibits and live entertainment, also formed major parts of the day-long street festival.

The Valley Street Festival is held occasionally on the island particularly during special events. It was conceived by the Anguilla Tourist Board as a means of giving vendors an opportunity to showcase their products and services as well as aspects of the culture of the island. The road-side event has proven to be a successful undertaking and an attraction to visitors.
