A new Country Manager for DIGICEL Anguilla has been welcomed in succession to Mr John Gidharry whose term of appointment has been concluded and he has accordingly been assigned to another island.
The cocktail function to welcome the new appointee, Mr. Rochus Shreieer, from DIGICEL Jamaica, was held at Flavours Restaurant at La Vue on Friday, May 9. “John Gidharry has done a phenomenal job in leading the Anguilla DIGICEL team and, more recently, supporting the acquisition of Caribbean Cable Communications which is now part of DIGICEL’s family,” said Mr Colwayne Pickering, Information Communications Technology/Operations Manager.
Mr Pickering stated that Mr Gidharry had been assigned to another island because of his set of skills. “We are saddened, as the local team, to have lost such a good person but, in all that, we are getting someone who is even better; and so we are proud and happy to say goodbye and welcome at the same time,” Pickering stated.
Mr Gidharry, who spent three and-a-half years in Anguilla, replied in part: “It has been a difficult time in Anguilla – sometimes challenging – but it has been successful and rewarding as well at times. All in all, it has been a fantastic experience. I want to say thank you to the entire team here in Anguilla, as well as for the support you [the members of the public] have shown us; and your being here is testament that you supported us and supported me through my tenure here.
“I also want to thank the Government for its support throughout [our operations]. Our staff has been phenomenal and a great team. With the recent acquisition of CCC we have an even bigger team to serve Anguilla and beyond.”
Mr Gidharry was pleased to be succeeded by Mr Rochus. He urged all customers and the general public to give the new Country Manager their cooperation and support.
Mr Rochus commended Mr Gidharry for his contribution to the growth of the DIGICEL business in Anguilla and pledged to maintain the same level of commitment to the network, as well as to find new areas of growth.
Mr Haydn Hughes, the Parliamentary Secretary, spoke on behalf of the Anguilla Government. He described Mr Gidharry as having been “a tremendous asset not only to DIGICEL, but to Anguilla”. He was pleased that an Anguillian, Roxanne Webster, was appointed as the new Marketing Executive for the company. He added that the Government and people of Anguilla looked “forward to a long and fruitful relationship with DIGICEL”.
