Two days of professional basketball drills and skills training exercises, on Saturday and Sunday, May 3 and 4, have been described as having been of much benefit to young players at Island Harbour, according to members of the supporting organisers.

The training events, sponsored by AUM election candidate, Dr Ellis Lorenzo Webster, and his supporting team, were delivered by three US College Coaches and motivating speakers. They were Walter Bond, Stephen Bardo and Arriel McDonald. The free drills and ball skills training were offered to male and female juniors and seniors as well as local coaches and referees. The training climaxed with a series of exhibition games.
Mr Bond and Mr Bardo, who were available to speak to the media, expressed delight that they were able to come to Anguilla, at Dr Webster’s request, to deliver the training. They spoke about the possibility of assisting the youngsters further. They also pointed to opportunities for a number of them to have the privilege to attend college through their involvement in basketball later on, once they applied themselves.

Dr Webster was grateful to the coaches for coming to Anguilla and contributing so much of their time and effort to conduct the training camp sessions. He hoped that the youngsters had benefitted much from the training and would continue their interest and participation in the sport.
