The JC Recreational Centre in South Hill would like to say a heartfelt thank-you to Doctor of Radiology and high-school basketball coach, Jason Davis MD, who volunteered his time between 21st – 29th March 2014 to give impromptu basketball clinics at the JC Recreational Centre – a registered Anguillian Non-profit Organisation. It was a week of positive skills development and cultural exchange between Anguillian and American youth.

Dr. Davis, of Bloomington Illinois, along with his two talented off-spring – son Eli, aged 14yrs, and daughter Lexi, aged 16 yrs – coached and encouraged (at times) over 20 Anguillian youth through rigorous basketball drills which added a new dimension to the practice and pick-up games that are conducted at the Centre on an ongoing basis. At the end of the week the Davis’ were presented with certificates of appreciation from the Director of the JC Recreational Centre, Jaine Rogers, for their contribution to youth development and also for their kind donation of basketballs and a ball pump.

Dr. Davis (also known as Coach Davis) said of the experience, “It was a rewarding time for us” and hoped it would be “…the first of many”.
The JCRC looks forward to more collaboration like this which helps to fulfill its Mission:
“To direct and harness children’s energies into positive channels, which include organised sports, fitness classes and tutoring sessions to facilitate and enhance their social development”.
