Supernumerary Methodist Minister, Rev Dunstan Richardson, has made the point that the future of young children is dependent on the early foundation laid for them.
He made the remark on Sunday, March 2, at the church service at Bethel Chapel, South Hill, which was attended by a number of teachers at the commencement of Early Childhood Month.
“Be assured that the future of the boys and girls in Anguilla depends on what foundation you have been able to make educationally upon them,” he told the teachers. “So their success in the future will depend on what material they have to work with.”

Rev Richardson went on: “In my area of education, I always ensured that those in the lower classes had the best and trained teachers. I believe that whatever is to be built up in the primary school, must have a solid foundation.”

The Methodist Church in Anguilla has three pre-schools, one each at Ebenezer, The Valley; Bethel, South Hill; and Maranatha, Blowing Point. These are in addition to a number of other privately-run pre-school education centres operated by several churches and individuals, as well as the kindergarten classes at some of the government-owned primary schools.

Early Education Month continues with various activities until March 31.
