Viceroy Anguilla “Toasting Our Stars”

Coba restaurantOn Tuesday January 21st 2014, Viceroy Anguilla celebrated its 2013 Colleagues of the Month, Supervisors of the Month and Managers of the Quarter at the resort’s annual awards evening “Toasting Our Stars”. The red carpet affair began with a cocktail reception at 6:30 p.m. followed by a formal dinner at Cobà restaurant.

Richard Alexander, General Manager and the Executive Team hosted the event. The nominees’ department managers were also in attendance. In his welcome remarks, Richard Alexander said it was a pleasure to host Viceroy Anguilla’s own Oscar Awards. He is keen to host similar types of events in the future that will celebrate the outstanding performance of our colleagues.

 

 

 

During the evening, the 2013 Colleague of the Year (Heart of House), Colleague of the Year (Front of House), Supervisor of the Year and Manager of the Year awards were presented.

Gwendora Hodge of the Stewarding department is the resort’s 2013 Colleague of the Year, Heart of House. She is credited for being a hard working individual who takes her work very seriously. Gwendora is reliable, trustworthy and diligent about standards being maintained.

Khalida Richardson (Reservations), Joldany Rodriguez (Housekeeping), Zenya Greenaway (Human Resources) and John Campo (Security) were nominated for the award of Colleague of the Year, Heart of House.

Maiko Polanco of the Food & Beverage department won the award for 2013 Colleague of the Year, Front of House. Maiko is an exceptional employee who understands the importance of having a sense of urgency. He is very service oriented and often receives guest mentions in the company’s customer feedback surveys.

Also up for the award of Colleague of the Year, Front of House were Bondee Bryan (Recreation), Jason Webster (Lifestyle), Jeri-Lee Buddle (Front Office) and Gerald Fleming (Food & Beverage).
The resort’s 2013 Supervisor of the Year is Sweenda Adams of the Food & Beverage department.

Sweenda is committed to creating the best experiences for our guests. She is always looking for ways to improve the operation and make her team better. Her bright smile and bubbly personality create a warm environment for our guests and staff alike.

Supervisor of the Year nominees were Michael “Dexy” Willock (Recreation), Jimmi Mathews (Culinary), Shirley Connor-Richardson (Stewarding), and Tuneero Connor (Pool & Beach)

 

The 2013 Manager of the Year award was presented to Hue Carty of the Engineering department.

Hue started with Viceroy Anguilla from its inception. He has been recognized on numerous occasions for his excellent performance. Hue is a very diligent manager who takes pride in, and is passionate about his job. He is a role model who enjoys teaching and sharing his knowledge.

Kathy Heredia (Laundry) and Jean L’Etang (Culinary) were nominated for Manager of the Year.
Another highlight of the evening was the door prizes which all of the nominees were eligible for. Eight of the nominees won prizes which ranged from credits at the resort’s outlets to an overnight stay inclusive of breakfast.

The evening’s celebration concluded with a ‘toast to the stars’ raised by Dorla Hodge, Director of Human Resources and words of thanks expressed by Richard Alexander, General Manager.
