A cheque of $5,000 US was presented to the Anguilla Community College by the Anguilla Chamber of Commerce to be used as a scholarship fund for deserving people in the community. The presentation took place at the Chamber of Commerce office on January 28, 2014. This is the third year that the Chamber has donated to the scholarship fund for a total of $16,000 US.
Prof. Delroy M. Louden, President of the college, noted that: “The importance of this scholarship cannot be overstated, and it also sends a message that the business community wants to see more young men and women filling the positions in Anguilla so that we can strengthen our community.”

One of the reasons for students throughout the Caribbean dropping out of college is financial, but it is known that Anguillians take advantage of the scholarships offered to further their education. As regards studying at the Anguilla Community College, students will gain the upper hand on their education by sorting out what materials they want to study early on instead of wasting their freshman year figuring out what they want to study. Professor Louden observed that: “Because our class sizes are small and because of the amount of work you can complete here you save yourself a fortune later on. You can complete your sixty credits here and you are able to back those sixty credits into a bachelor program – and if you do want a summer semester abroad you are almost a junior the following year. So it’s a great advantage to accumulate a good associate’s degree here because it allows you with in a comfortable environment to secure your level of education and then build on it”.
