The Ministry of Home Affairs would like to announce that with effect from Thursday January 2nd, 2014, Mr. Leslie Jasen Hodge, has assumed the post of Director of the Department of Lands and Surveys.

The new Director of Lands and Surveys is a 2011 graduate of the University of Reading in the United Kingdom from which he obtained a Masters (MSc) degree in Real Estate. He also obtained a Bachelors (BSc) degree in Surveying and Mapping Sciences from the University of East London, United Kingdom in 2007.

Mr. Hodge’s appointments in the public service have included Tax Assessor within the Property Tax Task Force of the Ministry of Finance from 2001 – 2003, Planning Technician within the Department of Physical Planning during 2003, Surveyor from 2004 – 2010, and Director Designate/ Assistant Chief Surveyor from 2011. His tenure at the Department of Lands and Surveys required him to be actively involved in a number of land surveying and consultancy projects including regional development programmes on land policies within the OECS. He remains committed to his growth in these respective areas and beyond.

Mr. Hodge is most grateful to the Almighty God for giving him the strength, courage, guidance and wisdom to undertake a career in land administration, his parents, Leslie and Dorithia Hodge for their continued guidance and encouragement throughout his tenure in the public service, and the Government of Anguilla for affording him the opportunities to pursue his studies in 2004 and in 2010.

The task of Director though challenging is openly accepted by Mr. Hodge, as he has a profound love for the property market and for the impact that land has on our existence and well-being in society. Mr. Hodge remains steadfast in his belief that no one can accomplish great things on his own. This is affirmed by his statement “To fulfill a big vision such as a more effective and efficient service to the people of Anguilla you need a good team and a supportive general public.”

The Ministry congratulates Mr. Hodge on his new appointment and urges that all Ministries and Departments as well as the general public provide all assistance necessary as he undertakes his new duties as Director of Lands and Surveys.
