The Princess Alexandra Hospital in Anguilla was proud to announce the safe deliveries by C-section of twin baby boys early on Christmas morning.

The twins were born to Ms Terrion Laing, 21, of Stoney Ground (formerly of Jamaica). The first boy, Kaedon Bryan, was delivered at 12.24 am on December 25 and weighed 5 pounds 2 ounces; the second, Kaelem Bryan, was delivered at 12.25 am and weighed 4 pounds 10 ounces. Their father is Kendon Bryan, 26, of Stoney Ground. The twins are the couple’s first children.

The attending Obstetrician and Gynaecologist was Dr Herman Hiquera, who is also the recently-appointed Director of Medical Services. “I was the one who performed the C-section along with Dr Ramirez, our surgeon, who was there to help us,” he told The Anguillian several hours after the deliveries. “We were very proud to have been able to bring these two babies on Christmas Day. We were at the very beginning of it. It is a good thing for next year in that we are going to have a very productive year in terms of having healthy, nice babies in our community.”

Other health personnel who assisted were: the Midwives Rosemarie Honore, Judith Owen and Chris Brooks; the Paediatrician, Dr Singh- Minott and Nurse Dawn Gumbs.

A matter of interest, perhaps, is that the mother of the father of the twins, Mrs Verna Bryan, formerly of Nevis, and now residing at Stoney Ground, Anguilla, gave birth to twin girls in 2001. The two 12-year-olds are now students at Campus B of the Albena Lake-Hodge Comprehensive School.
