The Anguilla Public Library has substantially improved its technological services for users of the Department’s facilities with the launching of a well-equipped Information Communication Technology (ICT) Lab on Wednesday this week.

Director of Library Services, Bernard Wattley, said in part: “The centre has been very long in coming having been initiated more than three years ago. But to have finally realized its completion brings a great sense of accomplishment catapulting us forward. This is not just in terms of the quality of our product offerings, but we immediately move from having six ageing computers to no less than twenty state-of-the-art machines offering the best quality public internet service available anywhere on the island. Of this, we are justly proud.”
Mr Wattley named LIME Anguilla, Mr and Mrs Dan and Blythe Brown and their associates, as well as the Anguilla Government, for their contributions to the establishment of the ICT Lab.
Minister of Education, Jerome Roberts, was also grateful to LIME and Mr and Mrs Bown for their assistance. “It is my understanding that LIME, the first contributor, donated some US$10,000 and five computers to this cause,” he stated. “I believe it is safe to say that LIME is one of those institutions that have proven, over the years, that it is dedicated to serving the community…

“The main contributors however, to this project, have been the renowned author Mr Dan Brown and his wife and some of their friends – all of whom have friends in Anguilla. We are pleased that you have such love for our island and people that you have seen it fit to invest in this project that will enable the Library to provide better services to our community.”

LIME Anguilla’s Marketing Director, Jade Reymond, said the telecommunication company was delighted to contribute to the establishment of the ICT Centre, an important service of the Anguilla Public Library.

Mr and Mrs Brown stated in a written message: “For quite sometime now, we have enjoyed a sincere affection for your country and for all the wonderful friends we’ve made in so many of you. Thank you for sharing your spectacular island with us. We feel very honoured and privileged to have been able to help make this ICT Centre a reality. We hope that it brings manyhours of education and enjoyment for years to come.”

The ribbon to the entrance of the ICT Lab was cut by Mrs Chanelle Petty Barrett, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education, who said she had much pleasure in performing that function.
