Today Friday October 11th, 2013, the National Bank of Anguilla Ltd launched the 25th Annual Primary School Football Competition. The exciting event started with an opening ceremony at the AFA Football Stadium at 4:30 pm. This was followed by various skill competitions among the participating schools.
This year the Anguilla Social Security Board has joined with the National Bank of Anguilla Ltd. in sponsoring the tournament which promises to be bigger and more exciting than years gone by. Both male and female teams will be participating from the six public primary schools: Vivien Vanterpool Primary School, Morris Vanterpool Primary School, Orealia Kelley Primary School, The Valley Primary School, Adrian T Hazell Primary School and the Alwyn Richardson Primary School. The Central Christian School will be participating with a male team only. All matches will take place at the Coronation Ballpark in The Valley. The tournament is scheduled to end on Saturday November 2nd, with the finals in both boys and girls matches playing at the Anguilla Football Stadium.
This annual tournament is one that is enjoyed and highly anticipated, not only by the participating schools but the general public at large. The defending females champions from the Morris Vanterpool Primary School, who won the tournament for the first time ever last year, are poised to take home the title once again this year. Meanwhile, the defending males champions from The Valley Primary School promise to keep the trophy in The Valley.
