The children were chosen for their improvement in the game of tennis, their participation and ability to give back. Nzingha Banks, Averne Gumbs, Angela Guinto and Frans-Louise Guinto are the lucky players attending, with coach Vallon Hodge-Richardson and parent Dr Guinto accompanying the group. Tickets for two days of the tournament at the Arthur Ashe Stadium were donated by David Robin and family, while Paul Lowerre organized the accommodation at the Dillon Hotel. Robin said, “We are so very excited about the upcoming excursion by the ATA to the US Tennis Open in New York City. This is such an important opportunity for the students, and some of the active parents, to experience the biggest of the “Big Time” tennis tournaments. No doubt it will be an inspiration to them for the rest of their lives!” And Lowerre commented: “Our continuous thanks and admiration go to Mitch and the entire ATA team for all your unwavering devotion to the great young people of Anguilla. ATA has become the gold standard for youth development through tennis, and we hope the programme will continue to build excellent athletes and excellent citizens for many, many years to come.” During their stay in the USA, Marty Bloom will take the group on a tour of New York. Lake said that he hopes the trip will motivate the students and others in the ATA and that the experience will inspire them to become better players. |
