A Memorandum of Understanding was signed on Wednesday at the Ministry of Home Affairs for what might be a joint Plaza Hotel and other services in The Valley area. The proposed project is a joint partnership involving three Anguillian brothers – Vanier Harrigan, Freddie Harrigan and Roland Webster and Best Western International, the world’s largest hotel chain.
The project is expected to be a five storey building to be constructed in phases at a total cost of over ten million US dollars. The building, to be located east of Fair Play Complex, is to eventually house Tackle Box and nine other stores; restaurant and bar facilities a movie theatre, a ballroom, a number of hotel suits, two conference centres and other services. This is according to Vanier Harrigan, chief spokesman for his family.
The MOU was signed by the three brothers and Chief Minister Hubert Hughes. It was witnessed by Jerome Roberts, Minister of Home Affairs. Mr Tom Osborn, Best Western’s Regional Director, North American Development, was not one of the signatories.
