DSC01246The Ebenezer Methodist Churchheld its annual Vacation Bible School (VBS) from the 19th – 23rd August 2013 from 9:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. daily.
The VBS was opened on Monday 19th August by Rev Dunstan Richardson who challenged the children to make the best of the opportunity presented to them to grow in their knowledge of the word.
There were eighty-five (85) students. These were mainly from the Ebenezer Congregation but included students from other congregations and denominations.
The students were divided into three (3) groups – 4-8 years, 9-12 years and 13 and older. They were also split into groups A (blue), B (pink), and C (green). Each was given various camp responsibilities, during the week, to build team spirit and leadership. There were eight (8) teachers and other facilitators who assisted with Arts & Crafts sessions, drum band and other camp activities.
The week-long VBS focused mainly on different Bible teachings with story videos namely, “Built on a Rock”, “Treasures in Heaven”, “Signs of the Times” and “Worthy is the Lamb”. Following the videos each group completed work sheets based on the Bible story and was involved in discussion on the topics.
The VBS, now in its 3rd year, was organized by Mr. Kenn Banks and his hardworking team who coordinated the events for the week.
The week ended with a short closing ceremony where participants were presented with certificates and tokens for their hard work. The ceremony was followed by a picnic at Crocus Bay which was the highlight for everyone especially the children.
The Ebenezer Church School wishes to express sincere gratitude to the students, parents, teachers, facilitators, helpers and supporters for the effort shown in ensuring the week was a success.
It anticipates another great Vacation Bible School in 2014.
