President of the Anguilla Chamber of Commerce and Industry Mr Keithly Lake says the institution is committed to helping the young people of Anguilla.
Mr Lake was delivering remarks at the Chamber’s Starry Night dinner and dance at Italia restaurant on Saturday night, June 29th.
He said while the Chamber is there to represent the interest of businesses. It is also dedicated to educating the island’s young people to further help improve the business community.
President Lake also said the Chamber is fully aware that these are difficult times and thanked the many persons for still contributing to the event.
Mr Lake hoped the event continues to receive the support of the public noting that its cause is to develop the young minds of Anguilla so they can be qualified.
During the dinner event, a silent auction comprising jewelry, a travel bag and accommodations at various villas was held.
Mrs Wilma Vanterpool-Broaden said so far the Chamber had contributed eight thousand US dollars to the scholarship fund noting that Saturday’s event will help push the envelope over ten thousand US dollars.
The Chamber’s Scholarship Fund is to assist students from the Albena Lake Hodge Comprehensive School to obtain an Associate of Arts Degree in Business Administration.
Starry night is one the main funding sources of the Scholarship Programme.
