Winning “Best Feature Article in a Consumer Magazine” and “Best Broadcast Feature” at the Media Awards Luncheon, hosting an invite-only media dinner, and participating in key travel agent workshops and seminars, Caribbean Week Toronto 2013 was a success for the island of Anguilla
ANGUILLA, B.W.I. – June 28, 2013 – Coordinated by the Anguilla tourism board’s North American public relations and marketing firm, Cheryl Andrews Marketing Communications (CAMC), Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) Caribbean Week in Toronto proved to be another successful endeavor promoting Anguilla tourism. The highlight of this year’s event came at the annual Media Awards Luncheon where Anguilla feature stories took home two of the event’s top prizes during the ceremony held on June 27, at The Boulevard Club in Toronto. During the event, writer Sarah Staples took home the prize, “Best Feature Article in a Consumer Magazine” for her article entitled, “Anguilla As You Like It” in Ensemble Vacations magazine and journalist Loren Christie won the award for “Best Broadcast Feature” for his CTV news story showcasing destination weddings in Anguilla. The weeklong series of events was attended by tourism public relations and marketing representatives Christina Baez and Dale Pusching.
Next on the agenda was Media Marketplace where the Anguilla booth was a favorite for media in attendance who were eager to hear and learn about the latest news, developments and industry offerings. Also held at The Boulevard Club and with more than 100 journalists in attendance for meetings and interviews with Anguilla representatives, it provided yet another valuable opportunity to be top of mind with niche and general destination writers across all platforms including print, online and social media.
The week wrapped with an invite-only media dinner, coordinated and hosted by CAMC representative Christina Baez on behalf of the Anguilla tourism board, for six key Canadian travel writers at one of the city’s leading upscale eateries, Aria Ristorante, located in downtown Toronto. Attendees, representing outlets including Toronto Sun, Zoomer Magazine, Dine Magazine, Candian Gardening.com, Canadian Travel Press were on-hand to hear “what’s new” and newsworthy from the destination.
