True Anguilla is a new, full-colour, complimentary guide to Anguilla that will be freely distributed all over Anguilla and in neighboring St. Maarten/St. Martin. The compact, colourful, attractive and extremely practical magazine has been designed to be an essential guide to the island.
True Anguilla includes comprehensive sections on getting to, and day-tripping to Anguilla – and on beaches, dining, accommodations, activities, liming, getting married and buying property. It also offers unique itineraries to spend “a day in the East” or “a day off shore” that the publishers hope will encourage every visitor to get out and about and truly explore all Anguilla has to offer.
The magazine is the creation of two experienced communications professionals: Trudy Nixon of True Communications, a public relations and marketing communications consultancy based in Anguilla; and Orrett Wynter, the publisher of glossy quarterly publication Design Anguilla.
Trudy Nixon said, “We felt there was a gap in the market – and the response from our advertisers has proved that. We started by researching our visitors via personal interviews, Facebook, Twitter and TripAdvisor and asked them what they loved about Anguilla, what made it special for them and what kept them coming back. The answer was always one or all of the following: the beaches, the people, and the food. Many people talked passionately about their experiences and named individuals that made their trip to Anguilla special – so we decided to feature them. We have included some of their quotes and lots of those people in our magazine – for example the interview with Armel Harrigan – which I love”.
Orrett Wynter said, “I wanted to create an information rich guide that would be easy to use and that visitors would pick up and carry around with them for the duration of their stay – hence the small format. I also wanted to include day itineraries so that people who wanted a day off the beach would have some inspiration to go explore. We’ve also created an online version which can be downloaded from our website.”
The magazine is bursting with colour and personality, and the front cover features a beautiful shot by Susan Croft of two girls racing joyfully along Shoal Bay West beach. The publishers also benefited from the use of many stunning Anguilla images by talented local photographers Derrys Richardson and Josveek Huligar, as well as other photographers.
The magazine was launched at a colourful Caribbean cocktail party: “Sundowners at Spyglass Hill Villa”, where over 100 advertisers, supporters and contributors were thanked by the True Anguilla team and given their first glimpse of the magazine. True Anguilla will be widely available on island from November 16th onwards and an online version can be enjoyed at www.trueanguilla.com.
