Pam, we knew what we were getting when we elected the AUF government to a third term. We knew in advance wht they did to Anguilla in their previous two terms. We knew that when it was time to fish or cut bait, Osborne chose to cut bait. When he was given an ultimatum by the developers on the western end of the island, to chose between the Junks Hole project or his, Osborne chose his, bending to the threats that that developer would shut down his project. So this sort of behavior, we've seen it all along. We have seen rampant corruption before our very eyes all this time, so why are we now shocked. I revert back to the famous line from the film Casablanca Sargeant Renault says to Rick, I'm shocked that there's gambling going on here." At the same time a card dealer shows up and gives Renault an envelope and says to him: "Your winnings sir." So we know what's going on here, we like it so. Victor doesn't seem to think that he has to answer to the people of Anguilla about anything and you know what, based on our holding him accountable, maybe he doesn't think we are entitled, just as with the banking report about our money, no smoking gun here. When will we learn?

Bless you all for taking the time and initiative to tackle this. Outside of action, communication is a strong tool in addressing the situation. It would be wonderful if commercial enterprises (like Best Buy, Proctor's, Lake's etc) could do more to dissuade the use of plastic bags etc (provide or sell cloth reusable as an alternative). Also, if patrons could purchase products in glass vessels (as opposed to plastic....if financially practical). Consider buying things like bottled water (or other bulk items) in single containers as opposed to individual ones if the situation warrants their practical use. Road side or restaurants (with take away) could consider decomposetable wooden utensils as opposed to plastic and cardboard containers in lieu of styrofoam. Anyway, the wheels of change turn slowly but they do roll forward!

Capitalism is a man-made demonic system that oppresses and weakens the masses to make the rich stronger and richer.

If this is so, then pray tell: why is it that the poorest of the poor in predominantly the western world, where capitalism thrives, are so much better off than the poorest of the poor in countries where socialism/communism etc is practiced? Indeed they are sometimes better off than even middle class if it exists in those countries)...think Venezuela, Cuba. also why is it that people the world over flee from these socialist/communist countries and flock enmasse to these bastions of evil capitalism, sometimes at the peril of their very lives?

Yet another bad idea being sold by Consultants! It would take decades to recoup the $ required to construct a so-called Superyatch Marina. Think about it. The yatch season is only 3 months long for starters. St. Martin/Marteen already have yatch marinas, so how could Anguilla compete? The reality is there are NO investors lined up to make this happen for the simple reason that the idea is a poor investment choice.

5 months later and no action taken. I predict this project will never materialize due to lack of funding, adequate water supply, lack of airlift options, crumbling infrastructure, affordability of finished units, immigration policies and not enough expat interest. Sorry, just pointing out the obvious

On a two week stay in Anguilla this month we were shocked and disappointed at the amount of trash, abandoned cars and litter we observed on the main road from the West end to the East end. The beaches from Junks Hole to Cove bay are unstable due to the seaweed and trash. The stink from the Sargasso was so bad on the road to the Forrest we had to turn around. Other than the beaches on the North side of Anguilla there is little to draw tourists. No amount of marketing can overcome the mess that tourists see upon arrival. Five Star destination? No, not even close ar present. If you make Anguilla pristine (like some beaches) the tourists will return. Tourists are choosing other island because of the buzz on social media about the filth on the island.

It's amazing that everytime something happens in Anguilla, there are those who will come out in opposition to it. It is somewhat hypocritical the way in which some people operate. You were up in arms when it was revealed that the AG was gay. You folks can't cherry pick what you are for and what you are against. What about the human trafficking, what about the prostitution, what about the fact that we've lost our banks and now in the process of having foreigners buy our power source. What about the fact tht you very same people stood by and watch our government basically sell out Anguilla. Have you no opinions on all that is and continues to happen to us as a people. Have you an opinion on our Chief Minister and his friends living it up in New Orleans when the rest of us are struggling to get by? What is good for the goose is also good for the gander. You either treat all of these issues with the same verve or you keep your mouth shut.

It is somewhat hypocritical the way in which some people operate. You were up in arms when it was revealed that the AG was gay. You folks can’t cherry pick what you are for and what you are against. What about the human trafficking, what about the prostitution, what about the fact that we’ve lost our banks and now in the process of having foreigners buy our power source.
