Have you ever heard the saying, “Whatever the mind can conceive and believe it can achieve”? Do you believe it? Do you know you are capable of accomplishing anything you believe you can? Well, believe it because it is true. The mind is a powerful tool. You can do whatever you want to do and become anything you wish to become if you only believe it. However, it will not happen by wishful thinking or by mere accident. It will happen by you being persistent and diligent about it and believing that God can do anything beyond whatever we may ask or think.
God is a God of the impossible. He said nothing is impossible for Him to do and we just have to take Him at His word and believe it. Too many times we say things because it sounds good, or because others are saying, it but deep down on the inside we do not really and truly believe what we are saying. So often God has to put us to the test to prove if we really believe Him. You see, if we really and truly believe Him we would not worry or be stressed about anything. God made us some promises and we need to believe and trust Him to make well of them. Here are a few of them:
For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord. They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11).
Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls (Matthew 11:28-29).
Even to your old age and gray hairs I am He, I am He who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you (Isaiah 46:4).
The Lord will keep you from all harm–He will watch over your life; the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore (Psalm 121:7, 8).
And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son (John 14:13).
And the Lord said, if ye had faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye might say unto this sycamine tree, Be thou plucked up by the root, and be thou planted in the sea; and it should obey you (Luke 17:6).
You see, my friends, you just have to believe it. All things are possible with God. Whatever you want or desire in life is there for the taking. It depends on how bad enough you want or desire it. In fact, it is your individually chosen beliefs or non-belief in a thing, whatever it might be, that without fail is the determining factor as to whether you are able to accomplish a thing or not regardless of the size or scope of the event or circumstance being considered, and regardless of who you are, what country you may live in, and who you believe in.
It is due to the power of belief or unbelief which causes any condition, event, or circumstance that you experience in your life to manifest, and its outcome is only dependent on whether you believe that the thing can or whether you think it can’t manifest. It is all about the measure of your faith. A glimpse into scripture provides the evidence to this. Your faith can move mountains my friends!
In St. Luke Chapter 7, a centurion sent his friends to Jesus, to say to Him, “Lord, do not trouble yourself further, for I am not worthy for You to come under my roof; for this reason I did not even consider myself worthy to come to You, but just say the word, and my servant will be healed.” And his servant was healed because he believed it. What about you? What are you believing for? There is absolutely nothing that can be conceived with the human mind that cannot or will not be brought into physical manifestation. It is through and due to the power of belief that an outcome is and always must be created. There are many stories in the Bible that substantiate that fact Matt. 8:5-10: It was the faith of the centurion that healed his own servant.Mk.5:35-43: The daughter of Jairus was healed from the fathers’ faith. Mk.2:5: Jesus healed the paralytic not because of his faith but of the four men who carried him.Matt. 9 20-21: “And, behold, a woman, which was diseased with an issue of blood twelve years, came behind him, and touched the hem of his garment: For she said within herself, If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole.” That’s the power of belief!
In other instances, you have to work hard to achieve it. Take a look at or study the lives of all those persons in your home, community, country, or on the television, who have attained their dreams. Do you believe they accomplished what they have by mere wishing about it? Think about it. First they conceived the idea, believed it can be done and then pursued it with hard work and a whole lot of virtues – diligence, persistence, perseverance, determination, commitment, self-discipline, responsibility and personal sacrifice – just to name a few – to bring it to fruition. Are you willing to do whatever it takes for you to get that desired outcome for whatever you are believing in?
It’s not unusual after you have taken on something big in your life, like building your home, starting your own business or doing something you have never done before, to have all your doubts and fears come up. Some familiar thoughts you might have may be, “Can I do this?” “What if I fail?” “Am I good enough?”
It is also not unusual to hear that little voice in your head saying, “You don’t have what it takes,” or “you’re not smart enough.” But if things are going to change or happen in your life, it is up to you to forge ahead, in spite of the odds, and make it happen.
Here are some things to help you to believe you can do anything you set your mind to do:
1. Love yourself for who you are. Before you can let love in, you must first learn to love who you are. The Bible says you are wonderfully and fearfully made. We are all whole and complete just as we are. We all came into this world as magnificent human beings fully expressed. Sadly, many of us walk around feeling there is something wrong with us and that we are less than others. But the truth is we are unique. Each one of us has our own set of gifts. Learn to appreciate everything in your life – big and small. There is nothing you need to do to make yourself better because you are perfect just as you are.
2. Trust. So often, we walk through life with an expectation that things “should be” a certain way. And, when that doesn’t happen, we are upset, frustrated and angry. What we need to do is to begin to trust God to give us everything we need at the right time. He knows what is best for us. Each morning wake up and name whatever you desire and say, “I trust it will come to me.” When you do that, the door of abundance will open up and new opportunities will flow in.
3. Appreciate your accomplishments. Start by giving God thanks for His many blessings and appreciate all that He has already given to you. Don’t spend your time thinking of the things you do not have. Thank Him for that which you already have and use them for His glory. When you take the time to appreciate your accomplishments, you are allowing yourself to bask in the victory of what you have achieved.
4. Be Grateful. Quite often, we dwell on what we don’t have and murmur and complain instead of being grateful for what we already have. So be grateful. Some people are worse off than you are. It’s just as important to your happiness to take time to be grateful for the things you have right now and have already accomplished. When you do that, you are immersing yourself in the positive energetic forces of life that are around you. And, what you focus your attention on most is what comes to you. The more you are grateful for, the more you open yourself up to attracting more of the same.
5. Choices. You are where you are because of choices you made. The choices we make in our lives help to make us who we are today. If you don’t like what you have, you can change it. Each day we have thousands and thousands of thoughts. We may not think we can choose our thoughts but that’s because we think we have no say in how we think. However, the truth is, if we don’t like the thoughts we have, we can change them and choose more positive thoughts. Everyday you get to choose how the day is going to go. So why not make it a great one! It’s a conscious choice you make to believe in yourself and you can start today.
6. Believe you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you. You are already wired for success. You have all the necessary resources within you. Activate them. Find and use the gifts you already have. Your success is tied up in them. Do not envy anyone’s gifts. Use your gift or gifts – you have some. God gave everyone a measure. Your success begins when you believe you can. Those who usually win are those who think they can. Life is what we make it. Always has been, always will be.
Remember: The state of your life is nothing more than a reflection of your state of mind. The obstacles you face are mental barriers which can be broken by adopting a more positive approach. Believe you can and go out and make it happen.
