The Vivien Vanterpool Primary School at Island Harbour, which has one of the smallest student rolls on the island at that level, again proved its high learning skills when it won another championship. That was the Caribbean Cable Communications-sponsored Anguilla Day Quiz.
The competition was held on Wednesday, May 22, at the Orealia Kelly Primary School Auditorium. It was organised under the auspices of the Department of Education.
The first championship won by the Vivien Vanterpool School this year was on Wednesday, May 16. That was when it beat the other Primary Schools in the LIME-sponsored Spelling B – another activity in the run-up to Anguilla Day on Thursday, May 30.
The team of Ivory Crump, Sheroine Rogers and Akisha Morgan scored 106 points – a mere but important six points over their nearest rival – the Adrian T. Hazell Primary School which placed second with 100 points.
In third place was Valley Primary School with 94 points followed in fourth position by Orealia Kelly School with 86 points. Morris Vanterpool scored 94 points in fifth place and the Alwyn A. Richardson School brought up the rear with 72 points.
The Quiz Master was Mr. Kenneth Hodge, Principal Assistant Secretary in the Ministry of Home Affairs and Chairman of the Committee for the Anguilla Day celebrations.
In 2011 Vivien Vanterpool School won the Anguilla Day Quiz but was defeated in 2012 by Morris Vanterpool School.
