Second and third place were taken by North Valley and Lower Valley respectively. The other competing teams were North Side, The Valley and Lower South Valley. North Side was The Most Disciplined team and the most goals were scored by Lawford Brown. Best Goal Keeper was Collin Liddie of the South Valley team; and the Most Valuable Player was Glenville Allen of the North Valley team. Treasurer of The Valley Youth Sports and Culture Club, Kimberly Gumbs, told The Anguillian that the tournament was well supported by members of the public and that many players representing the six sections of The Valley area, participated in the competition. In delivering the Vote of Thanks at the closing ceremony, Ambrell Richardson said the Club was happy that the Fourth Annual Orlando Johnson Memorial Football Tournament was made possible by the participation and support of many persons and organisations. He acknowledged the generous financial and in-kind contributions of the sponsors. He named them as having been Alloyd Enterprises; Aronel; the Anguilla National Trust; Caribbean Commercial Bank; Junie Fleming of Superior Industrial Equipment Company Ltd.; Kenneth Vanterpool; LIME; Oliver Brooks; the Social Security Board; and Straw Hat Restaurant. Mr. Richardson also acknowledged the commitment of the referees: Albert Burton, Hilton Fortune; Nigel Linton and Allan Carty; and volunteers Marva Brooks, Mitchell Brown and Nardine Edwards; and Jerome Roberts, the Elected Representative of District 2, for his continued assistance. He was particularly grateful to Kool FM 103.3 and Leroy Richardson for promoting the tournament – a partnership dating back to its inception in 2008. |
