Students and teachers of the six public primary schools, as well the island’s one high school are now back to the grind of busy school days. Schools in Anguilla officially opened on Monday September 1st, 2025.
As school busses roar across the island in the early morning hours, some parents get busy dropping off their young ones at the school gates. Times like this, mean that students, no matter how young or old, must dedicate themselves to class-work, studying and homework in order to achieve acceptable grades at the end of the school year.
Students must appreciate the time and work that teachers invest in preparing lessons plans, and they must be diligent enough and responsible enough in making the teachers’ tasks worthwhile.

At the beginning of each school year, The Anguillan customarily tours the Grade 6 of each public primary school to share goodwill and wish that class success for the year ahead. A photo is customarily taken with the teacher to give the public a sneak peak of the classroom setting.
The Honorable Premier, Mrs. Cora Richardson-Hodge also visited the schools across the island to share words of encouragement and to extend best wishes for the new school year. She encouraged the students to embrace learning with confidence, discipline and determination, and highlighted the importance of education as the foundation of a stronger future for Anguilla.
The Premier engaged the students and reaffirmed Government’s continued commitment to supporting the island’s education system.

This year, each primary school has a new Principal, as there has been a transfer of Principals throughout the education system.
Ms. Tiffany Thomas is the Principal of the Alwyn Allison Richardson Primary School; Ms. Tricia Richardson is the Principal for the Adrian T. Hazell Primary; for the Valley Primary School, the Principal is Ms. Shauna Connor; Mrs. Electra Buddle is the Principal of the Orealia Kelly Primary; and the Principal of the Morris Vanterpool Primary School is Ms. Marcia Brooks. An official Principal for the Vivien Vanterpool Primary School had not been appointed by press time.
