In the spirit of promoting health and wellness among our team, Malliouhana hosted its 2nd Annual Health Fair on Thursday 29th June 2023 from 9:00am to 3:00pm. The fair brought together a multitude of health professionals who created an engaging and enriching environment using interactive displays and informative sessions. These sessions signified the importance of stress management, healthy eating habits, maintaining work-life balance and the importance of regular exercise. This created an opportunity to educate our team using expert speakers who shared their knowledge and provided practical tips and strategies that could be incorporated in their daily lives.

Another highlight of the health fair was the inclusion of comprehensive health screenings and assessments. Team members had the opportunity to undergo screenings for blood pressure, body mass index (BMI), Dental Health, Physiotherapy, Foot Care (Diabetics), HIV Testing, Massages, and other vital health markers. These screenings not only helped individuals gain insights into their current health status, but also offered a starting point for setting personalized health goals. In addition, Ms. Anna Kennedy, Landscaping Specialist at Malliouhana, propagated over 50 plants for good health and diet for team members which included basil, mint, climbing spinach, paracetamol plant, lemongrass, basil and papaya.

At Malliouhana, we also recognize the importance of mental health and the impact it can have on our overall health and daily lives. As such, we also employed the services of a mental health professional, whereby team members were provided with the opportunity to have private one-on-one sessions to discuss any personal issues they may be experiencing. This was of paramount importance to us, as many of us are fighting unknown battles, especially during such uncharted times.

We are most grateful for the participation of several partner organizations and exhibitors, whose collaborative approach enhanced the overall impact of the event and created lasting connections with health-focused resources in the community. These included the Health Promotion Unit, National Aids Programme Unit, Open Door Counselling Services, The Dental Unit and other Health Services.
The resounding success of Malliouhana’s health fair exemplifies our commitment to the well-being of our team members and the fostering of a supportive work environment.
