HE the Governor Dileeni Daniel-Selvaratnam and the Hon Premier Dr Ellis L. Webster were in London last week-end to attend the Coronation ceremony of Their Majesties King Charles III and Queen Camilla at Westminster Abbey.
Inspector Helmert Mason represented the Royal Anguilla Police Force joining Police, Regiment and Defence Forces representatives from across the Overseas Territories to undertake ceremonial duties as part of the Coronation Procession.
The Coronation Ceremony of King Charles III and Queen Camilla took take place at Westminster Abbey, London on 06 May 2023. His Majesty used vestments, which featured in the Coronation Services of King George IV in 1821, King George V in 1911, King George VI in 1937, and Queen Elizabeth II in 1953.
The Archbishop of Canterbury placed St Edward’s Crown on The King’s anointed head at the ceremony, which formalised the King’s role as the head of the Church of England and marked the transfer of his title and powers.
As part of the celebrations to mark the Coronation, HE the Governor and the Hon. Premier attended a breakfast hosted by the Foreign Secretary at Lancaster House for Small Island Developing States, an evening reception at Buckingham Palace, and the Coronation concert held in the grounds of Windsor Castle.
HE the Governor said: ‘It was an absolute honour to attend the Coronation with the Hon. Premier in representation of Anguilla and witness the Coronation ceremony of Their Majesties King Charles III and Queen Camilla at Westminster Abbey. A historic and momentous occasion indeed.
