Sweet peppers are among the easiest vegetables to grow in Anguilla, and a number of farmers are taking advantage of this opportunity, and to market their produce at supermarkets.
Two such persons are Conrad Gumbs (Cutter) and Roosevelt Harris (Litchie). They are cultivating a plot, under drip irrigation, on the farmland of the Department of Agriculture at The Valley Bottom, and are having good returns as shown in the accompanying photograph.
Several days ago, Litchie drove to the office of The Anguillian to showcase their sweet peppers. He then travelled to J W Proctor’s Supermarket whose owners are giving farmers an opportunity to sell their produce there.
In addition to sweet peppers, tomatoes are also easy to grow and market in Anguilla. Cutter and Litchie will no doubt take on growing this vegetable crop as well.
