In a virtual ceremony hosted by the Turks and Caicos Islands on Thursday, February 9th, an Albena Lake-Hodge Comprehensive School’s student, Ethan Harrigan, was awarded for his outstanding performance in the May/June 2022 Caribbean Certificate of Secondary Level Competence (CCSLC) examinations.

Since 1988, CXC has honoured candidates for their outstanding performance in the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate May/June examinations. To ensure CCSLC has parity of esteem and to bring it in line with the other qualifications, the Caribbean Examinations Council approved a proposal to offer two regional top level awards for CCSLC. The offering of these two awards, for the Most Outstanding Male and the Most Outstanding Female candidate, was initiated in 2016.
Ethan, a 15-year-old Forth Former, was among an overall fifteen top regional performers who were recognized by the Caribbean Examinations Council for their educational achievements. He won the award for his performance as Most Outstanding Male in the CCSLC exams. His counterpart, who won the award for the Most Outstanding Female student in the exams was Ms. Josharnnia Edwards of Verchild’s High School in St. Kitts and Nevis.
Ethan Harrigan achieved grades of Master in all of his CCSLC exams, including: English, Digital Literacy, Integrated Science, Mathematics and Social Studies.
CEO and Registrar of CXC, Mr. Wayne Wesley, applauded Ethan: “I congratulate you on your outstanding performance in the Caribbean Examinations Council of Secondary Level Competence (CCSLC) June/July 2022 examinations. Based on your performance, you have attained the award for Top Male Performer. May I, on the behalf of the Council, congratulate you on this achievement.”
Speaking on how he felt for achieving such a feat, Ethan told The Anguillian: “I am devoid of any strong emotions, but I am resolute in my understanding that there are further tasks to undertake and more achievements to attain.”
The Anguillian congratulates young Mr. Harrigan, and wishes him every success in his endeavours.
