Congratulations are in order for five students of the Albena Lake-Hodge Comprehensive School who were the first ever in Anguilla to sit CSEC Additional Mathematics exams. They comprised the inaugural class at the Albena Lake-Hodge Comprehensive School, and were the first to do it on island. The five are: Davisha Richardson, Lyse-Andria Franklin, Wendysha Hodge, Tariq Brookes and Tajhjani Brooks.
The students’ teacher, Mr. Conlloyd Gumbs, commented on this great feat for the young students: “This is a wonderful milestone showcasing the capability of our local students to execute on their academic problem – solving skills in regional exams.
“Mathematics is a subject that forces one to deal with problems that are never asked for, in order to become a logical problem solver. These are transferable skills that can help us to contribute to the development of Anguilla, the region and the global community at large.”
The five students completed the classes in one year and were able to navigate through the exam – pulling off three grade 1s and two grade 2s.
The Anguillian heartily congratulates these students and their Maths teacher.
