The Counselling Unit for Primary Schools has just concluded a newly established 4-week programme called J.U.G – Just US Girls. This 45-minute programme for girls was facilitated by several female guest speakers.
The two aims of these sessions were:
• to build self-confidence through self-improvement and
• to gain skills to enable girls to make informed decisions.
Topics covered included: Self-Esteem, Confidence building, leadership, knowing your friends, Trust, Bullying, Appropriate Use of Social Media, Choices and Consequences, Relationships, Respecting Yourself and others, and Moving to the Beat of Your Own Drum.
Just Us Girls sessions were facilitated by;:Nurse Dana Ruan, Ms. Nichola MacDonald, Miss Meesha Richardson, Mrs. Mikeela Skellekie – Cunningham, Miss Tyeisha Immanuel, Mrs. Chanelle Petty-Barret, Ms. Michelle Queeley , Mrs. Dayna Connor, Ms. Jasentha Crawford, Mrs. Shellecia Brooks-Johnson, Ms. Glynnesia ‘Racheal’ Franklin, Ms. Glenneva Hodge, Mrs. Jade Raymond-Richardson and the Hon. Shellya Rogers-Webster.
The Counselling Unit expresses thanks to the facilitators, girls, parents, and colleagues at the various schools for their assistance and contribution to a successful programme. The Counsellors look forward to planning and executing ‘Just Us Girls’ again in the new school year.
