The St Kitts-Nevis-Anguilla National Bank Limited (SKNANB), the largest indigenous commercial bank in the Eastern Caribbean Currency Union (ECCU), is the newest financial institution to join the DCash Pilot.
With SKNANB’s enrollment in the pilot, it means that its retail and corporate customers can now sign-up for a DCash wallet. DCash, the digital version of the EC dollar, provides a Safer, Faster, Cheaper way to transfer funds and process payments. SKNANB is now the twenty-first financial institution in the ECCU to join the pilot.
The ECCB is excited about this development, as it will allow more residents and citizens of the ECCU, particularly those in Saint Christopher (St Kitts) and Nevis, to use and benefit from this innovative digital payment platform. It also advances the ECCB’s quest for deeper financial inclusion and more efficient payment systems within the region.
Governor of the ECCB, Timothy N. J. Antoine, said: “This partnership between DCash and SKNANB is a significant advance for getting DCash in the hands of more ECCU citizens and residents. We are pleased to have SKNANB onboard.”
Speaking about their enrollment, Chief Executive Officer of SKNANB, Donald Thompson, said:
“We applaud the pioneering efforts of the ECCB in the launch of the region’s own central bank digital currency. This initiative is closely aligned with SKNANB’s strategic objectives of providing our customers with a variety of electronic payment options. We are excited to join the DCash pilot and look forward to continued collaboration with the ECCB in the development of our financial space.”
DCash wallet holders can send and receive digital EC funds in a matter of seconds and with no transaction fees, using a smart device. It can also be used by business owners to offer an easy and convenient payment option, providing the potential to expand their customer base.
Persons can download the free app from the Google Play or Apple Store and visit DCashEC.com for more details on signing up for a DCash Wallet.
