“On Tuesday 12thApril a team of 5 athletes and 2 officials travelled to Jamaica to compete in the 49th edition of the CARIFTA Games.

“The team comprised of two female athletes, namely Sagé Connor and Thalia Hinds. Sagé was the only Anguillian athlete to advance from the preliminary rounds when she placed 3rd in her heats, which ranked her 11th out of 28 female competitors. She thus became a semi- finalist in the under 17 Girls 200 metre races. Thalia Hinds was a semi-finalist in the Under 20 girls 400 metres.

“The three male athletes included: Terrone Webster, who ran a season best of 11.17 seconds in the male Under 20 100 metres; Jo Quan Richardson who competed in the Under 17 Boys 400 metres; and Tajhjani Brooks who competed in the Under 20 male 400 metres and the 800 metres where he ran a time of 2.00.01 minutes – the second fastest time ran by an Anguillian athlete and a new Under 18 National Record. We are just awaiting ratification by the IAAF.
