For several months now, there has been much activity with regard to the development of infrastructural projects on Anguilla. This welcomed activity has disrupted the normal flow of things on the island, including the daily routine and comfort of many residents.
Minister of Tourism and Infrastructure, Mr Haydn Hughes, made brief remarks this week informing the public that the work on all infrastructural projects is progressing well and remains on-track for projected completion dates.
“The BP ferry terminal is progressing well. We have embarked on road maintenance of some of the side roads across the island – that is also going well.
“Persons are back in the People’s Market. It is so good to see that there is activity going on back in the People’s Market – we are very happy about that.
“Framing for the concrete of the airport road is complete, and paving of the road would have started today, April 11, but was delayed because of rain. That will resume tomorrow, April 12, if weather allows it.”
Minister Hughes also gave a brief update on tourism in Anguilla.
He noted: “As you can see, American Airlines is coming in and leaving full to capacity. Work on the Tanglewood poles assessment has been done, and that will allow for an additional 2,000 pounds [airlift capacity on American Airlines] – whether in cargo or passengers.”
