The University of the West Indies (UWI) Open Campus Anguilla, the Anglican Church Women Association (ACWA) and Gender Affairs Anguilla extend gratitude to all those who collaborated, participated and joined in the service of celebration for International Women’s Day on March 8, 2022. The annual celebration which continues to attract large numbers, was under the theme, “Breaking the Bias: Building a Better Me”, and included participation from a wide cross-section of women’s groups and other organisations.
Appreciation is extended to all the Speakers and Presenters, including Her Excellency Governor Dileeni Daniel-Selvaratnam and the Honourable Minister with responsibility for Gender Affairs, Ms. Dee-Ann Kentish-Rogers, President of the Anguilla National Council of Women, Ms. Glenneva Hodge, and Immediate Past President of the Soroptimists International Anguilla, Mrs. Ursil Webster-Brooks, for their greetings.
“We are particularly grateful to our Keynote Speaker, Mrs. Dayna Connor, who challenged and motivated us all with her dynamic and inspirational presentation,” says Manager for The UWI Open Campus Anguilla, Dr. Phyllis Fleming-Banks. “We also salute and thank our talented youth representatives, Ms. Tyeisha Emmanuel, Rhonica Connor and Alysha Carty of the Anguilla Youth Parliament for their creative and riveting presentations.”
Special congratulations and continued appreciation are extended to the 2022 International Women’s Day Awardees – Mrs. Maude “C” Richardson, Mrs. Evalie Bradley, Teacher Janice Hodge, Nurse Dana Ruan and Nurse Monique Rey – in recognition of their contributions to education, health and wellness, culture and the overall development of women and the Anguillian community.
Congratulations too, to the Gender Affairs Women’s Week Honourees: Dr. Olufunmike Banks-Devonish, Mrs. Shellecia Brooks-Johnson, Chef Karimah Carty, Ms. Meagan Carty, Mrs. Shana Jno-Baptiste, Mrs. Mishline Leader, Mrs. Melisha Maccow-Niles, Ms. Kemoloy Murphy, Ms. Karen Pina and Mrs. Shellya Rogers-Webster.
Gratitude is also extended to the Women of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, the Church of God of Prophecy, and the Christian Fellowship Church, as well as Mr. Devaunie Richardson, for their musical renditions, to Pastor Julet Simon, Reverend Vincia Celestine for their empowering prayers; and to Ms. Sandra Lovell, Miss Aaliyah Richardson of the Anguilla Girls’ Brigade and Mrs. Jade Reymond-Richardson for their participation.
