The Award Ceremony for The Best Village competition, hosted by the Anguilla Enhancement Project (AEP), took place at Seaside Grill on the night of January 14th to congratulate the winning villages which were registered for the competition between November 25th, 2020, and January 30th, 2021.
The purpose of the competition was to motivate community groups to focus on developing cleanliness and community projects within their respective communities.
Six awards were given out at the ceremony. They included: Best Jollification Event Award, sponsored by Caribbean Insurance Solutions – Island Harbour; Cleanest Village Award, sponsored by NCBA – West End; Most Enhanced Village Award, sponsored by Joyce Kentish & Associates – Island Harbour; Greenest Village Award, sponsored by Frangipani – Island Harbour; Community Spirit Award, sponsored by Carimar Beach Club – Sandy Hill; Dolphin Award & Winner Of Best Village Competition 2021 – Island Harbour.
A monument of the Best Village – Island Harbour – will be erected and unveiled in Island Harbour next month.
Head Judge, Ms.Carencia Rouse and other Judges – Jibri Lewis, Amelia Vanterpool-Kubisch, and Joselyn Theophile-Richardson – the winners based on a set of criteria that was communicated to all the participants.
The villages that registered and participated were: Island Harbour, Sandy Hill, East End, Welches, Shoal Bay, Stoney Ground, The Farrington, Rey Hill, North Side, Little Harbour, Blowing Point, and West End.
The Anguilla Enhancement Project hosted activities during the competition to help mobilise affiliate community groups like National Jollification Day on March 2nd, 2021.
Aurora Anguilla Resort and Golf Club will sponsor the most patriotic village award for this year’s competition (2022)
The ceremony programme was chaired by Vice President of the AEP, Moira Masshardt. She was assisted by AEP Marketing Officer, Meesha Richardson. Speakers for the night included: Carencia Rouse (Head Judge), Kenroy Herbert ( Past President), and an audio recording from the President of AEP, Nakishma Rogers, who could not attend.
