As we come to the end of what has been a challenging year, I would like to extend my gratitude to everyone for your warm welcome and support as I made Anguilla my home.
Since my arrival in January, the sense of community that defines the neighbourhoods across the island, and extends to the Anguillian diaspora, has been heartening to see. Whether through collaborating on an initiative, attending a community event or quietly supporting a neighbour in need, each of your contributions continue to shape our community as one that is resilient, caring and strong.
For many sadly, including within the Governor’s Office, the year has seen the loss of loved ones and colleagues. At these difficult times, I am reminded of the words of Romans 8:24 ‘In Hope we are Saved’. In navigating the many challenges of the year and the pain of loss, strengthened by the community that surround us, a guiding light forward is hope.
The true meaning of Christmas after all is of coming together in the name of peace and goodwill, putting aside our differences and being thankful for the gift of life. May we celebrate Christmas by giving the light of hope to those who need it most.
I wish each of you a peaceful Christmas and a blessed New Year ahead.
