The Pfizer vaccine, for 12-17 year-olds, in Anguilla, has begun to be administered to schoolchildren against the COVID-19 virus for the first time.
Three thousand doses of the vaccine, provided by the UK Government, were received on the island a week ago. The vaccinations, by the Ministry of Health, commenced on Monday, November 8, at the Rodney MacArthur Rey Auditorium.
At least one parent or guardian was allowed to accompany each of the children during the vaccination process. The students vaccinated during the week, Monday to Friday, were from the Albena Lake-Hodge Comprehensive School, private and home schools.
It is understood that at the end of the first day some 300 children were vaccinated. The Ministry of Health has taken the opportunity to thank the parents and guardians for their cooperation and encouraged them to continue to ensure the youngsters are fully vaccinated to enable them to live healthy and productive lives.
